| | Re: First Egg, Ball, what ever. Hi Windsong, good looking carving! Those eggs are a little tough to carve as there is no good place to hold on to carve them. Looks like you found a place as rhe carving looks great!

There are several books available on carving eggs anything fromm caricature to chip carving, animals, etc. Look at Mountain Woodcarvers for good caricature carving book, woodcraft shop for about any other kind. Pete Leclair had an egg carving article in one of the carving magizines, either WCI or the other one. Check on internet, some info there.

| | Re: First Egg, Ball, what ever. Windsong, that is a really neat little carving. You gave it quite a bit of detail for such a small piece. I can see you designing a whole village of the little round eggs.

| | Re: First Egg, Ball, what ever. The whatchamacallit looks great Windsong. I'm going to have to try carving one like this. Becareful with the eggs you buy it at craft stores. I would reccomend ordering them from Rick or any of the other carving stores. Mainly because of some of the wood they use for turnings is harder to get some of the details you want. There's also butternut wood eggs out there if you don't want to paint it and they look good all natural. Here are some websites that have them www.woodcarvers.com/eggs.htm www.littleshavers.com/ and www.mountainwoodcarvers.com/basseggsetc.htm
Thanks for sharing

| | Re: First Egg, Ball, what ever. Windsong, Ive carved a few hard wood eggs and its hard at times. Your egg carving looks like like a nice little cabin with some full pine trees around it with steps leading to the cabin. Its really nicely done plus cute!
Nice work by all means! Forrest
