Slow Mover ,
The trees were lifted with a crane and loaded on to a trailer. Taken to a storage area for drying.
Althout the bases was really large the trees were only about 9 ft tall. They were under electric lines so for many years they were topped. I have pictures from the 1870s which show the trees fully grown at the time. Sadly I did not get to them before they tried to cut the up, so planking the trees was not an option.

The rest of the story;

I presented the carving to the Senior Citizens center, they refused to take it for the center. It now hangs in the Freetown Museum. With pictures of the trees over time.
