Default Escher in Relief display

There is a small exhibition of my relief carvings based on the designs of M.C. Escher at the Creative Crust bakery in Meadville, PA - 30 miles south of Erie. The bakery is at 137 Chestnut St. in the historic district. It includes just nine carvings of the 15 I've done, and will run thru October.

All of these carvings are pictured in my WCI gallery, but this is an opportunity to actually run your fingers over them. One of the carvings, "Waterfall," was the subject of a WIP thread a couple of years ago in which some forum members doubted whether or not such an "impossible" figure could be done in relief.

I won't be there with the carvings until my wife & I return from London in mid-September.

I Love your Escher work Phil.
I wish I could be there to see them all up close and personal.
Congratulations on the show.

Congratulations on the exhibition, Phil! Have a Fuller's London Pride to celebrate while you're there!

We've come to the end of the exhibit. Since it was part of a day-to-day business - on the walls of a bakery shop - many people discovered it by surprise. Recently two elementary school children came in with their mother and began studying the carvings (while the mother chose bread). We started talking. "I've seen some images like that in school," said the girl. They were fascinated!

Today my wife and I were in an art shop several blocks away when two women stopped us. They had come all the way from Cleveland to see the carvings! They were thrilled to meet the actual carver (me).

Comments like those really keep us going . . .

Phil, I was one of those "doubters", but it looks like you've convinced me! I'd really like to see these in person some day.
