Thank you, Mark. This pattern is from a class I took and John made a cute joke about the picture. He said, " I call this purple mountains majesty and amber waves of grain.....you know someone should write a song about that."

I agree with you....it speaks of majesty and freedom. Thank you for the comments. I think I like Paul's suggestion about using the upside down frame....but I am still experimenting. I will try not to mess it up

This may be what you were talking about with the shadow box. You mount it to a board, then frame the board. On the board you can do anything from a complimentary color paint, to fabric, to barn wood, to infinity (and beyond ). You would need to choose a frame that sticks out at least as far as the carving IMO. This technique works really well with very odd shaped pieces. Good luck and good work
