Default Drapery in shallow relief.

How do you do drapery on a shallow relief carving of a female in modern dress?

I have no idea of what the "correct" answer is, but what I'd do is have a woman wear sometiing similar and I'd take lots of photos of her from all sides.

Hi Pan D. and welcome to WCI Message Board. It would be helpful if you could show us your pattern or image you are working from. If I were doing drapery/folds I'd used a v-gouge or even a viener tool, then use a knife or straight chisel to round the top of the folds. The v-gouge and viener would give you the peaks and valleys you need to make convincing drapery folds.
Someone else might have a different approach, but that would be the way I would do it.
Kathy

I think a veiner or parting tool would work also Kathy and a good undercut to form the shadows. You would want to also have a better description or picture. But welcome aboard I hope we can help.
