Default door header house blessings

I was struck by a statement in another thread that floored me, due to the quality of the carving...it was the raptor relief by Makinchips. He said "Here's one I made yesterday." I'm impressed.

Anyway, it challenged me to try my hand at "Here's what I made yesterday." too.

So, here's what I made yesterday....the thistle carving actually. The sun was a few days ago and took several days, due to lack of interest and interruptions.

These are two of my door header house blessings that I am able to sell pretty quickly. They are carved in white pine, painted with thinned goauche (opaque water colors paints) and then stained with linseed oil mixed with burnt umber oil paint. I'll wax them with paste wax when they dry out a bit.

The house blessing part of each one is written on the back. Thistle ireads "Remember always and forever" and the sun reads "warmth within".

Nice work as always and great idea for something that I know will sell. You personalize them so perfectly!

Very clever idea and you did a good job on them. I would like to steal your idea as gifts for the family. By the way, the only thing I made yesterday was a mess (the eyes on my Santa) and I haven't had the courage to try to correct it .today.

Thanks all for the feedback. I have enjoyed carving them, and will do more.

Joy, I posted them thinking others might enjoy the project as well. Copy away. They are pretty quick to carve, paint, and if folks in your family have door-ways, then they will have room to put them.

Thor thoses are beautifull plus the idea is such a good one on theses door headers with the house blessing that go along with them.

Think you caved one for the man that was building your new home or something like that. You had posted it before it was done best I can remember??

Goauche.Im glad you explained that it was water colors or I would have thought it was something you eat with chips! LOL
But what I do know, theses door headers are very neat and I like them. Great idea and nicely carved and painted. Thks for sharing them for I appreciate the work and the idea of them. Forrest
