Default What to do with scraps part two.

I promised some of you that I would show a variety of my work and not every solitary thing I have carved. This is out of a long thin piece of scrap. Total length was about 30 inches. This was for a friend who's son needed a gift for his basketball coach. The theme is limitless. I have seen a preacher with a Bible, one could do a hunter holding up a duck, many other sports themes could work. A teacher, plumber or other trades person, mail delivery, ..... well you get the point. What catches your attention? What ideas come to your mind - I'm thinking a takeoff on Fred Zavadil's conductor.

Clarify the pics. First one is unit hanging from kitchen wall, rest detail

Joined in a carving club project using my scrap basswood. Made some pins as gifts for our senior citizens in Prescott. We have about 20 members participating in the project. We set up tables with our carvings kind of a Show & Tell along with carving demonstrations. Everyone has a good time and goes away feeling better for our visit.

That's a really great idea, Kathy. I sure hate to see decent scraps pitched. Every carving club needs to adopt an idea like yours. Spread the word.

heck scraps make the best carving wood, you dont worry about wasting the high cost per board foot for carving wood,,

me and my carving buddys exchange packages all year, they send me scraps or tools for modification, still i get a great supply of wood unavailable to me, with the puzzle of what i can make from the shapes , tools get made or modified and its like Christmas with every package,,,
