Well, this might seam weird to you. I entered 2 of my chip carved plates in the tustin, show. sorry spelled it wrong. but would you believe, I am sniveling about a blue and a red . one of my teachers, made this out standing chip carved egg. its about 6" tall, turned the egg on a lathe laminating walnut with basswood. ( buy another member) interred it as a turn and chip carved egg.(they changed it to chip carving class, not lathe work. which is good ) the chips and pattern (witch was his) got a 3rd. I wish I had a picture to show you it was just out standing. the chip pattern was so fragile. and so well done.and the finish was like glass, showed the chips so well, and only got a 3rd. I got the first, and a 2nd. I am really teed off for this. I will show my plates, witch I am proud of. but nothing like his egg. I will try to show a picture of his after I get one. he is sending me a pic now. so hear is mine, and I think we could judge this hear. please. this egg is just grand. Evie |

thanks Lynn, lets see if this works. I love my plates. but for judging, I think the egg far passes my plates. and can not figure why. I got a first, and second, and he got the third. can you tell me. thanks. Evie

The judges were correct. We often underevaluate our work. Your plates are great. Gilles |

Evie, the plates are beautiful. Could the judges have known that the egg was turned by one person and carved by another? That might detract (possibly). One more thought, it is the ultimate compliment when the student out does the teacher. Don't be disappointed!

Let me put it this way, I'd buy the plates before I'd buy the egg....
