| | Dates and decoration for a pub. Carved a date the building was built and the date the renovatuion begun and pub opened. Was unable to climb up and carve this into their beam , so made a playe that can be easily atteached, The decoration is the "Thistle"...old symbol of Scotland and Ireland . Hope they like it. The wood is cherry and the thistle carved in and burned for detail.
The Scottish Plaque is one I did just in the spirit of the occasion. I was on a roll.

How deep a carving is that Scottish Plaque? Did you highlight it with burning? It looks great! Thanks for sharing.

The dates are carved in about 3/8" deep, the board is only 3/4" in total. The thistle is relief carved about the same, and yes, detail were burned into it to accent the leaves and thistle and thorns. Then a bit of oil and lots of wax and elbow grease!

| | Re: Dates and decoration for a pub. That carving with the date has a real rich look to it. Couldn't think of any other way to describe it. Nicely done Bob. And the dragon is neat as well.
