In Word, you can change the space between letters. Here's how:

Write your text
Choose your font and size
Go under Format
Choose Font
Click on the Character Spacing tab
Choose Expanded under spacing
To the right, there is an arrow box where you can increase the space between the letters to whatever you want.

Hope this helps

If you use a drawing program, you can type in the "banner" that you want, in the font you like and then bend it or shape it to what ever shape you like. Adobe works well, and Corel Printhouse/Draw.
