Default Chip Circle Grid

This is a file that I had tucked away and thought maybe someone could use it. It is a grid guide for a 32 section circle ... so good for 4, 8, 16 or 32 motif units chip pattern construction.

Can you give a short explanation on how to use this, please?

I am trying my hand at a bit of chip carving and want to move beyond initial application of the basic three-cut and two-cut techiniques.

I find that there is a big jump from the simplest layouts for those to the next level of design on-line (read:free<g>), which seem overly complex in layout.

Thank you in advance,

RussL.

Russ, The grid is used as a guide to mark where your chip triangles will fall along the arches of the circle. By using such a grid you can do one motif, copy it along the circle's arc and know that when you meet at the other side you will not end up with a half motif.

I have added two samples of some grid circle doodles. They are worked off another grid circle layout. If I can scrounge up the master file for this one I will post it too.

You can see that I can work multiple motifs over one, two ro three divisions depending on how many division there are in the total circle. Then just make copies of that one motif.

Susan,

Thank you so much.
The examples on the left are more clear in showing me how I might apply the grid at the level that I'm at.

The examples on the right will have to wait! :-)

Thank you again, very much.

A fan,

RussL.

LOl, where was this when I started laying out my pattern for my quilt block? Thanks for posting this. I think it will make my forays into circular chipping a lot easier, or at least less time consuming with the pencil.
