all my chip carving is done with either a Denny large and small or a small Rich Notto knife. Never had the luxury to buy/try the others that are out there. All that changed when my mentor passed away and I was teaching his son to chip carve so that he could complete some unfinished pieces. There was an assortment of maybe 20 different knives, some of which I recognized. 'Im a lefty and was teaching a righty. He had trouble holding the knife correctly because he couldn't translate left to right. I was trying out the assortment myself and when I picked up the new Moor knife with the plastic handle I realized that because of the flat of the handle being perpendicular to the blade it almost forces you to hold the knife correctly. My student tried it and sure enough the problem was solved. He was making very decent cuts in about an hour.
STill like my knives!!

I started out using the Barton knives but was unhappy with not being able to carve the small chips. I bought a John Dunkle knife and it was like night and day for me. His knives were a little more expensive but worth it. If you would like pictures I can get you some.
