well last year we had an ornament swap here amongst some of us, but this year seems everyone is busy or not interested....the swap I was talking about is on the W3E (Woodcarvers Exchange) put W3E on search and you will find the site, they swap cane segments, spoons, pins, all kinds of things.... I was going to carve something, but then the love spoon I was carving for my wife for christmas out of black cherry bit the dust, and I'm scrambling now to make something for her...I think I should have practiced first using basswood... Bob |

might depend on knife you are using Bob, I used a Warren bent knife blank I put a handle on ...also could be the direction of the grain....I messed a basswood spoon up, got to deep in it to quit and it was spalted and punky....it finally chipped its last time and I made a good spoon out of it! ...firewood

It was in the corner of the handle...I guess I didn't know my own strength when I was cleaning out the corner...It split the whole side off... I'm thinking that I need to go back to basics and work out my techniques before wasting expensive wood...I've got a ton of basswood, but just burned through three of my five pieces of cherry... Bob |

Yes it does, wish I hadn't sent of the one I made for the grand daughter for a stocking stuffer. Was two spoons linked together with and 9 link chain. Shoulda took a picture. Course it wouldn't have done any good as I haven't figured out how to post a picture yet. Too busy.
