Chip Carving

At present im trying to sell my house and i dont have a workshop as yet, i have to use the kitchen table,so in an effort to keep the house tidy ive decided to try chip carving,working on small projects etc.I have a Moors chip knife and some 1' Lime all i need now is some patterns, a few tips,and maybe a little bit of help from you guys

pick up a small compass (divider) and play with it, finding out how to get 6 points 8 points 12 etc in a circle, and a clear 6 inch ruler, a 4mm lead pencil and an eraser and just start drawing...draw symmetrically, whatever you put on one side, put the same on the other...you can get into random things later....it is really fairly easy, but just to sit down and think of an idea?? I just start with something, anything and build around it, sounds hard but isn't!
