Hello, this is a nice chip carved framework I made some years ago.... It's made of basswood and It is finished with colored wax. Ciao da Massimo |

masso, I admire chip carving for the patience it takes, but yours goes beyond what I've seen before. The stain compliments it, the light in the photograph compliments it... I don't think I could ever get a series of curves that even if I worked for a lifetime. Bravo! Christina |

Hi Ciao. your work is just grand. I am a beginner in chip carving, and this is inspiring. I am getting better and smoother cuts. the long spirals, I think I have down pat. it is the corner piece that will give me fits. I still have problems with under cutting . thanks for sharing. Evie

Masso, your carving is excellent! How did you carve the series of curved elements? I'd call them gadroons, and I'd carved them with gouges. Did you chip carve them? Fascinating carving. Thanks for sharing. Mike

the curved elements are chip carved, all the framework has been made with only one knife, the n5 Codega. In italian the curved elements i made in this framework are called "palmette", and are very difficult to do without errors, that's why I make few "palmette"! |

Masso, Very impressive. I like the crispness of the cuts and the way it all comes together. I'm a beginning chip carver and I have a question. On the "frame", did you do the straight cuts around the outside first or last?. Thanks, Mike G. in SC P.S. I visited Turin about 30 yrs ago when I was in service. Very beautiful city. Ciao |

| I did first the straight cuts around the frame, evenif it isn't the right method to proceed.
