Default Chip Carved Deer

This is done in basswood with walnut frame. I wanted it to have a lodge feel to it, thus the timber type from choice. I sprayed it carefully with a laquer. Its going in an auction to raise money for a scholarship fund. Its approximately 18x18 and the corners are lap joints with toothpicks drilled through the joint. I thought the toothpick would be a slight contrast feature without taking your eye away from the deer.

Stoney1964, I received your PMs and a notice that your "Chip Carved Deer" was uploaded, but I can't find it in the gallery.

Very interesting concept. It definitely has that lodge feeling. It puts me in mind of cave or native American paintings taken to a higher level. I really like it.

This was my first piece done in the northern basswood. Wow, what a difference.
