Default Celtic Knife

Hello,
this is my last work...it's a knife with two celtic knots. It's the first time that I carve celtic style, so this isn't a detailed work...I hope to do better next time!

Well, it's beautiful, and if that's not detailed and will only improve, then you're well on your way to perfection.

I enjoyed seeing it.

Good first project. I have been carving Celtic designs for some time and a couple of the things I learned the hard way was to keep the ribbon the same width through out the project. Special problems are curves and when the ribbon goes under another piece. I would always have a slight bulge as one ribbon passed under the other. keeping your stop cut and the dive of one ribbon smooth, i.e. to look like one cut not multiple slices, and terminate without the fuzzies in the crack.
Also, all knots have no beginning and no end.. If you are drawing your own designs, there is an out of print book by Ian Bain which is excellent, His son has another that is not as complex to follow. Be prepared to have a notebook full of knots before you get the perfection that the stone cutters did a thousand years ago.
You are off to a great start. Don't be suprised if on a bigger project you end up with a ribbon that has to go over not under as the design calls for. #@$!#$ ! Another piece of firewood.
Have fun, knots are a great source of inspiration and frustration.

Hi Masso, that's a very nice job of carving. That's a nice knife, too.

Good looking knife. How did you attach it to handle.

Masso, That is a beautiful knife. If you really are unhappy with it, send it to me. I adore it. You should be proud of your knife.

What kind of wood is it?

thanks to all for the comments.
The wood is italian walnut. The brand of the knife is a Codega "Bergamasco" model, so i did't attach the blade to the handle by myself
