Default Celtic Cross patterns

I am going to make my mother a celtic cross for her B-day which is coming up at the end of this month, does anyone out there have a pattern that I may use or refer to? Just a bit of background, my mother is an Anglican minister who has come home to our home land, Gordon First Nation, to minister to our people, she preaches in a 100 year old church on the reserve and collects crosses and angels. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I recently got some olivewood from bethlehem to make some pens with, after cutting the pen blanks I had 1 1/2 piece left over....not being able to waste wood lol, I cut those into two 3/4 inch pieces (4) and was able to turn two into small pots or bells, depends on which way my wife mounts the earring paraphanalia lol, and the other two, I scrollsawed into two crosses...........olivewood is beautiful! If anyone is interested, there is a lot of info on google, just type in olivewood.

Gilly,,

Here's a few links that may help you:

Papasar carved a Celtic cross last year around this time. Maybe he can help you with a pattern.

Otherwise, try the Google link for a good photo, and take it down to a photo place, and with a little math, they can probably print out to the size you want.

While Googling, I found this one at Tandy Leather (they have some nice patterns that can be used for carving):

She sure does, I think I'll have to think about buying her CD. Thanks.

Gilly,
Wood Carving Illustrated, Holiday 2005 Issue #33 has an article and pattern for a Celtic Cross Bible Box, that looks fairly straightforward.
Same issue, p.89 has a supplier of boxes, www.boxesnsuch.com
Hope this helps.

Thank you Bill, I'll take you up on that offer. I am practicing my cutting on some scrap bass boards, learning how to make the cuts and such, it'll be a while before I try a "real" project. So far though I have learned that you really have to think each cut through, angle, pressure, blade control etc, but it sure is fun and I really enjoy it so far.
