62 DOORS! Good Grief! Stacey, I'm green with envy at a commission that size.
I do hope you'll post more pictures of the finished pieces. Do you get to be imaginative with each one? or do you have to use the same pattern? What a great project to be involved in.
I'll have one of those doors on my wish list for when I can afford one. Thanks for that info.

Very nice work. I love seeing your work displayed. One of these days I will have to try to do a door for my house..... perhaps one of these years...

Great door. 62 doors is a lot of carving. Should be a really nice building when they are done though, they will add so much to the atmosphere!

Nice work, and carving a cedar on an alder door is somehow poetic.

Good thing you posted the dimensions, 'cause I was just getting ready to be cheeky about a door 8' wide and 3' high...

Stacey,

When you say you use one of your routers, do you mean a hand held router? Do you use anything for a depth guide?? Of course, these questions come from someone who has never used a router. I would love to be able to carve a door or mantle like that. Any pointers for a beginner?? Great work!!!!!!!!

Blake

Hi Blake, yes they are hand held, and no I don't use a depth guide, I have started a new door today and I;m going to take pics. as I go and try and tell how I get the doors roughed out, with a router
I;m sure that you could do the same it just takes some practice, I hope too start a new post sometime tomorrow
taking the pics is easy trying to explain
for me is a little harder, but I'm going to give it my best shot. feel free to ask me anything about it and i will try and get you a answer
Thanks Stacey

Stacey....I dropped by a building supply center yesterday, looking at doors, specifically inspired by your project. They carry nothing but commercial vinal trash and a few Pine doors, not even Cedar anymore. Of course our market is small and limited so I migh have to cast farther afield. We have solid Cedar doors in our house, and I am eye'ing them, but I'm not sure my wife would be too happy if I started chipping away at her lovely polished Cedar! She funny about things like that!

You mentioned that you sometimes have a cabinet maker construct doors, how do they compare price wise, much more expensive that way? Just thinking and considering the possibilities........! What a great way to greet visitors to your home, with a nicely carved image on your door.
