Looks pretty good. I'd darken the nose, like you said, and bison eyes are really BLACK. I'd try to darken them way up leaving just small white, or lite spot on each. Not where the pupil is, but just as a reflection of light about in the same spot on each eye. If that doesn't lok right make 'em all black

Kathy, Your relief carving turned out real nice.

The stain sure added depth.

I'd darken the nose and do as Al suggested with the eyes.

UPDATE

Hi All, here is the update with the suggested revisions. I darkened the nose, detailed and enhanced the eyes and brought up the hair color in the face.
Thank you all for your thoughts and suggestions for improvement.
All that is left now is the varnish.

Great job Kathy. The staining effect makes it startling, gives it lots of depth and character. Great job.

Kath, I really like your finished Bison! It looks good and the stain and finish really bring out the depth you need.

Bob, thank you using the bt. umber and bt. sienna oil paints does make a rich mixture. I can't wait to take it to our next 'Wood Bee Carver's' meeting for my first Show & Tell.
