Hi Sappy,

I really like this piece. It's got real appeal and draws your eyes right in. If it had been me carving it, I think I would've rounded the birds a little more, and probably rounded the corners where the branches are. Just my opinion. Great job - thanks for showing it off!!!

Mark

Thank you Mark for that advice, I was wondering about that, I wasn't sure if I would lose the feeling of height if I rounded the birds more, but I think they would look nicer and I may decide to try that.

Hey Sappy, we all learn from experience. I could show you any number of my carvings and tell you what I'd do differently next time around, if I were to carve a repeat.

Keep 'em coming!

Mark

Great job Sappy, I love looking at a new great wood carvers pieces, the inspiration jumps right out of the pics. Like Mark already said, rounding them off would even make them better, but they are very nice to look at already, keep em coming.

Hi Sappy,

Nice carving. Those are Tufted Titmouse(s) right?

Thank you everyone for your comments, Tufted Titmouse(s), yes! These aren't deep carved, as the piece is small. Wouldn't you loose size of the object if you rounded the edges and do you have to allow for that when you start a project? I probably won't go back and change this one, but I'd like to know how to approach the next project.
