| | Blacktail Prairie Dog Relief Title: Prairie Dweller WIP
Medium: Cottonwood Limb
Size: 12 inches Tall x 3 inches Wide
A while back I decided to try a relief on a piece of round cottonwood limb. I've been working on it off and on for a few weeks.
The cottonwood has a tendency to chip which has occurred with a foot, but I think I can round it enough to get by. I do like carving with cottonwood, I just have to be very careful with my cuts.
So thought I'd share my progress so far.
As always I appreciate your thoughts and comments.
Kathy

| | Re: Blacktail Prairie Dog Relief Thanks Marci, it's my first in the round type relief. I have more to do yet, but it's at a good stage. I'll have some better views when I update.

| | Re: Blacktail Prairie Dog Relief Hi Gary, yes I believe I have taken to carving I especially like relief. I do have some background in clay sculpture, but I find wood carving much more challenging. It's easier to put back clay if you take off to much. Tee hee
Hi Greg, thank you hey I'm retired is that what your suppose to do--find fun things to do. I love seeing your work tooooooo.
Thanks guys for the encouragement. Greg I've even started another relief only on an other 8 x 10 inch plack. It's another one of Susan's patterns an antelope full body in landscape. Will share.
