Default Before/After Almost Finished

I just finished carving and painting this one this morning. I still have to stain and incise the letters.

looking good! If I could make a suggestion, make the front sidewalk come away from the church in a big swinging S shape, narrower at the building than out front..it will give you a lot of depth. straight out like this makes it look like its a wall instead of a walk.......keep it up!

You could "s" shape it,, but if the chuch I think you are trying to duplicate has a straight walk like this then what has to happen , to make it look like it's going away from you into the picture is perspective. This in a relief like this is fairly easy. Just make the bottom or what would be the beginning of the walkway nearest you wider than the width of where it ends up at the church,, sort of a pyramid shape with the top cut off. One other minor point,,as the stones go away from you,, make them smaller and smaller,,this will get you away from the look Hi Ho described as it appears as a wall,,making the stones gradually smaller till they dissappear will make this walk way dive right into the picture,, making want to follow it right into the church!

I appreciate the tips. I was thinking about making it bigger at the bottom. But, then I thought it would be too wide. I guess I'll try that on the next one. The church actually has a paved parking lot in front. I like the natural look better. So, I just make a walk up to it. I'll try to post when I finish the next one.
Thanks again,
Thomas
