Paolo59 Thanks for the answer. I have been stopping at 220 grit. Judging by the results you got on this work, I have been far too lazy. I had better keep on sanding a little longer.

| It depends on the result you are looking for. In this case the style (art nouveau) needs this smooth finish, usually I don't use sandpaper, but only a self-made scraper.
