Default basswood women study

Hi guys, this is a trial (study) for a bigger work that I aim to realize in future. I have never carved a human body, so I need to try. The figure is in the "art nouveau" style and it should be part of a mirror frame (the drawing is not mine but copied from a famous artist).

Very nice first try you should have no trouble doing a larger carving.

MA, burning and carving is not the same as playing with matches and knives.

reminds me on alphonse mucha...very nice to see (i think the first time here at wci) a classical bozetto. good idea, to revive the idea. looking forward to see your large version, and to hear how you feel the bozetto helped

Very smooth! What type of wood did you use?. I would really like to know how you got that ultra smooth finish?
