Default Antelope Relief WIP

Antelope Relief WIP
Basswood plaque 8 x 10 inches

Hi All:
This is a pattern from Susan Irish’s book ‘Wildlife Carving in Relief.’ I just about have all the levels hogged out--with a little more to do in the foreground.
The next step will be to take out some wood from around the tree's to give them a little depth. Also maybe use a v-tool to deliniate the stradas in the mountains. Will update as I get further along.
This pattern is not a step by step like the 'Buffalo' but Susan does show the levels--which is a big help.
Thanks everyone for looking and your comments/questions are always welcome.
Kathy

LOL Good at everything-- Ahhh if that were only true, but Thank you kindly. I can't take credit for the pattern it's Irish's boy that girl can draw and carve beautifully. She's my mentor.

Thanks Mel, I worked on it some more today--for a small format there sure is a lot to do. Will update in a few more days when I'm further along. I photograph it each time I finish working, so I'll have a series of progress steps to upload.

Thanks Wade & Kenny, I really do enjoy learning to carve in relief. After this one I'm going to make a pattern from one of my photographs.
Wade I am taking photographs after each working session and will be happy to share. Thank you for asking.

You've already got the depth layers done well, I think it looks great as is, but I know you have some work ahead of you, can't wait to see the finished piece.
