South Lancaster is as far east on Hwy 401 as you can get before you cross into Quebec, unless you count Curry Hill Truck Stop. It is a hamlet of about 700 people, I'm guessing.
It is quite an old area and several homes around here are listed in the Historical Database as being significant. In the 1700 to 1800's this was a rather important town as it was the last stop along the St Lawrence before goods had to be transferred to wagon to get past Cornwall Rapids. It was also built on the original Toronto to Montreal highway so several houses along the main road used to be Inns and Stage Stops.
