Default Angry lion

This past few weeks, when I haven't felt like working on one piece, I always keep a few works in progress around, so I have something to choose from. Here is one that I just finished, an angry lion. This is the third in a series of the big five game animals, the elephant and leopard were done last fall, and now the lion is finished.

Just for fun, good practice. Any pointers on improving, are always welcome.

Bob

That face is as powerful as if the real cat was hanging on the wall! Nice job.

Nice work Bob, I like how you did the fur and the contrast between the heavy hair and the face. Good carving!

I expect that is not an easy profile you have carved there Bob. I've done a cartoony style lion face but yours is very realistic looking. It shows some real depth and appears 3 dimensional. Nicely done.

Bob.... Did someone take his Zebra away from him? Sure looks like one mad lion to me. Thanks for sharing.
