I agree with everyone else, carve it the way you want. But I think I did see a book where they were adding wood to a relief carving.

I also looked and theres no law against it either

I say do whatever you want Ivin Whillock, in his book RELIEF CARVING TECH, project # 11, laminates extra wood onto the hair to create deep shadows. FEB

I'll add my thoughts to the discussion and I say 'What ever works to complete your vision.' I haven't had to add more wood to a carving yet (famous last words) but I know my time is coming and I'll do it if it will help. I've punched threw to the other side of my plaque before and have found it's easy to repair. Guess that's probably another subject. LOL
