Default Whittle Folk Classics

The thumb nail photos below are of recent whittle-carvings I call WHITTLE FOLK CLASSICS. Each one is carved from a one and a half inch square by six inches tall block of basswood and are painted using boiled linseed oil and artist oil paint. These carvings are called "Classics" because they are larger versions of smaller carvings of the same subject carved many times. Each is carved exclusively with knife carving with no add ons, carved from a single block of wood. These and other interesting items are posted on my blog site that is updated periodically. Great pieces Don. While you posted a larger photo of the Pirate on your Blog I sure hope you do the same for the other pieces. Your detail is great. I'd love to see you do a figure 8" or more. Think of all that neat detail you could do. Wow!

For those of you out there who haven't been visiting Don's Blog you're missing out on not only good carving but also some great reading.
