I find it very inconvenient to have to page down to bypass the advertising in the header every time I go to a new page. I realize that there is a need for advertsing and have just delt with this until this morning. When trying to view the 2011 AIW photos that were posted it is more than inconvenient to have to page down to see each photo as the slide show advances photos. Now, maybe it's just my computer that is causing this, but if this is the norm, I, for one, would like to have this process changed by the web master. Having to page down to bypass the header is a real pain. IMHORon

OH ... I feel so very, very old here ... as I remember when you put the URL into the browser window then 'clicked' the arrow ... and then while you waited for the website page to load you had time to make a fresh cup of coffee, go to the bathroom, return to pour that cup of coffee, ask your beloved hubby if he wanted one too, get him a cup of coffee, and then return to your computer chair to sit and WAIT some more until the load was finished ... back when you got excited because you were moving at 28kb ... all just to see if someone might have replied to your post to that new thread on the forum. Sigh ... Susan |

Ahhhh Susan, the good old days when I still used dial-up. I had to bring a magazine to keep me occupied while I surfed the web. I'm with Ocsar, with how much information is on the forum, I hardly notice the little advertising thats done. Eric |

Moved since it was more about the website than the publishing/magazine issues. I haven't noticed the problem myself...but I suppose it could be troublesome to have to scroll down with each new frame. It's easy for me with the wheeled mouse and large screen (at work). Here's a link to what I 'think' Ron's referring to: http://www.woodcarvingillustrated.co...50669/cat/1153 Last edited by Mitchell; 11-18-2011 at 04:07 PM. |

Yeah, it is sort of cumbersome to view a lot of photos, when you hit next and then have to scroll down aways to see the next photo. It also does it when you run the photos as a slide show too, so you have to keep the scroll button handy. Not sure if there is a way to fix it, but you don't know if you don't ask? I am ancient enough to remember dial-ups, BBSs, and Compuserve. Much better now days...and I sure didn't have access to resources like this great web site! Seems almost like the Middle Ages now!

Depending on your web browser, you may have an easy solution. I have a Mac and normally use Safari for my web browser, but I also have Firefox, and the same commands work there as well. Go to the gallery, bring up the page you want, but instead of scrolling down or paging down, the Mac keystrokes are to do a Command "-" (that's command plus the - key at the same time) The image of the web page becomes smaller. Do this a couple of times, and the image will shrink enough to be able to see the photo without having to scroll. If you then click on the photo, one of the "blow-up" images appears and you see more detail. When you are done, use Command "+" to enlarge the web page again. I have no idea if this works in Internet dEstroyer, but go to the menu View, if there is one, and look for Zoom. Claude <edit> Since I have Windows XP running under VMFusion on my Mac, I started up IE and you can do it from there as well. In the lower right corner of the IE window, there is a zoom icon (looks like a little magnification glass with a "+" in it). Click on that and you can select from several different zoom settings; 75% or 50% may work for you, depending on the size of your monitor... </edit> Last edited by Claude; 11-18-2011 at 06:47 PM. |

Yes Mitchell, that's the one I'm refer to. Thanks for locating and posting it. Trpidhummer, I too truly enjoy this site and all the folks that are on it. Perhaps I'm too used to looking at photos in other locations on the web where is says "Next Photo", you click on it and you are now viewing the next photo without having to page down. Susan and Midnightcarver, sorry if I whining here, but given where technology and web site development is today it seems, to me, there should be an easier way to view so many photos without have to page/scroll down. I too remember the good old days - an IBM PC with 64K and dual floppy drives of 360K each and dial-up. Yep, I really do appreciate the speed of the Internet and all that it offers. Moreover, I greatly appreciate this web site and all the time effort and support it receives from WCI staff and members. Mpounders, I glad to see someone else has experienced the sam this that I did. <edit> Claude, thanks I appreciate the input I'll give it a try. Ron
