Default We get off topic sometimes

Hi gang,
I have noticed that with some threads we really get off topic. We start out well then someone comments on something and we get off topic and on to a brand new topic. I noticed that someone restarted the topic again on one of the treads because of that reason. I think that was a great idea because if you need to refer back to something especially if it is a hot topic it makes it much easier. I guess its because we are all getting to know each other pretty well and there is a little mud slinging going on once in a while. Nothing wrong with that makes this board a little more personal. But I do think if we get off topic sometimes someone should do as was done on the "show us your carving area" thread and put us back on track.
Colin

Red face Re: We get off topic sometimes

Good idea Colin. I had to do just that not to long ago because things got off to another area real quick. Guess we are all guilty of that every now and then but I have an excuse... I'm getting old, Lol. Mike

Yeah, the moderators should step in and keep these on topic......oh wait - that's me too! Actually, I noticed a couple getting off topic, and thought about "correcting" the direction. I decided to wait a little to let the new site settle some. I guess it's now time to help the going in the right direction.

This includes multiple threads on the same subject - which would most likely not happen as much if the threads were kept on topic, and threads in the wrong sections.

Now, should we move this to the FAQ/Suggestion thread?

Yep, and I have done that on occasion and I apologize for doing so, I've also removed one of my messages that might have offended someone enough that they felt a new topic "had" to be started.
Oh well, I guess I just assumed that when things got out of line a moderator would step in and remind the perpertrater that he/she was wandering off topic...heck my feelings wouldn't have been hurt if a moderator said "hey OG" get back on topic" , nothing wrong with that as far as I'm concerned.
Well nuff said on this subject for OG.

OG.

Okay, I moved it since it really should be in a section other than the general carving. I suppose it could have gone in the Moderator FAQ also.

Good Point.
But at least those of us over....um...50...have an excuse. We can't remember what we left the room to get, let alone what the original topic was on the message board.

Sometimes a thread takes on a life of its own. HELP US!!!

Question Re: We get off topic sometimes

Threads? I am totally lost on that one. I use thread when I quilt. Is that the same thing? I'm still trying to decide if I want to start carving or not or stick with my scroll saw so I am totally lost most times in here! LOL But I do enjoy reading everything everyone has written and I am going to check out log mills in my area. Something I hadn't thought of before! And everyne's pictures are awesome! Do I have this in the wrong thread or not? And the time on this really has me confused! It's 5:05 p.m. where I am but it is showing 10:05 p.m. Where is that? Hawaii? And why don't we use eastern standard time since the magazine is located in that time zone? Is this another wrong thread? LOL!!
