Al, I'm afraid you're going to need to switch again over to the tredmill powered computer...they have found that the propane-fired ones create too much heat for the computer fans and heat sink to deal with...

High speed internet in the electric lines seems like THE answer to my problems.

Perhaps someone on the board could contact Al Gore to find out when it will be available.

Talking Re: Sloooooooow message board speed

Thought that I'd pass on a little update information concerning my slow (and I do mean super turtle slow) speeds on this particular message board. Finally, the local phone company has made it to my little hidden "holler" with high speed internet service and they installed the dsl modem today!! Oh man, am I in hog heaven now or what?!? Ten full years as a dial-upper is now officially history!

As my story unfolds, it was my last thread about a new walking stick several weeks ago when I was still on dial-up which included several small pictures. It must have taken me two hours trying to get everything uploaded and when it was all finally done I was so frustrated that I haven't been back since... so I've now got a lot of catching up to do as I want to gradually get back to checking and participating here so give me a bit of time to catch up first. I've got a lot of new projects to post and now I just might open up my own carver's gallery. (Does my excitement show?)

As for the Admin. I would like to suggest if there's anything that you can do to increase uploading and downloading speeds for the dial-upper's then I'm sure that they'd appreciate it. Certainly not a problem for me anymore though.

Sure is nice cruizin' around here again at lightning speed!

We have DSL and cable access where I'm at but unfortunately the people that I receive my retirement check from absolutely refuse to pay for an upgrade from my dial-up connection! Darn! The bottom line is that there are still a lot of us folks out there who wait 2-3 minutes for each graphics loaded page to load. Personally, I refuse to eliminate the graphics because to do so would almost defeat the purpose of visiting the forum. There are so many talented carvers on it displaying their work. Hopefully, as technology advances, some of it will benefit us "lag behinds!"

For some reason I have no problem at all on this website. The longest wait I've had has been about 10 seconds. Man was I bored...........
