Default Simple projects

Looking for some new simple projects to be used in teaching 11-12 year old students.. We teach Safety, the basic cuts, let them pratice on scrap basswood , then they work on a cutout which uses the 4 cuts. Then using a "V"& "U" gouge, with a benchhook they do a simple relief carving. Basic Chip carving is demonstrated. We have used cutouts such as Shark, Humming bird, Scottie dog. 3Min. Owl,Pencil Copter ,etc.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, They do good with relief, but round carvings are not too good. Thanks

The neckerchief slides are fun and failrly easy to do. I did many of these from Whittlin' Jim from Boy's Life magazine in the late 50's and early 60's.
I wish I still had those, never knew what happened to all my slides.

Have fun teaching those young people.
