Default Searching the Forum

I would like to know how to make the search function search for what I type in the search block? I typed " How long did this take" which I think was the name of the thread. The forum in its great wisdom gave me the following message when it showed all the threads with the word "long" in it.

The following words are either very common, too long, or too short and were not included in your search: How, Did, This, Take

So, it's obvious I did not find the thread I'm looking for.

Thanks.

Terry:
One way is put double quotes at each end of the phrase you are searching for. A string of short words will be looked for as "and/or" so it would look for all posts that had "how", "did", "this" etc., even if only one of the words was present. Putting the whole phrase in quotes tells the seach engine to look for that exact sequence of characters in that exact order. When I put in "how long did this take" including the quotes, it found your question above; when I put in "how long this did take", the search engine told me it couldn't find anything.
