Default Question about the Forum

Why is it that when I open a subject area ie Welcome New Members that each thread will be a different width. Some will show up in the space alloted and I can read them and others I will have to scroll left & right to read.

Just curious. Seems that they should all be the same width.

The text should wrap in most cases. I see the situation you describe a lot when someone cuts and pasts a photo into the text, or uses the < img > command.

Try holding the "Alt" key down and at the same time touch the " - " once for each downsize you want. Hope this is an answer to your question.

I should not have to change the display size everytime I look at a different thread on the forum. The opening to this thread that I typed in yesterday fit just when I submitted it and today it is way to wide for my screen. There are no images or photo's attached. Just seems strange to me.

You're right "it is irritating". My problem really went away after buying a new wide screen monitor. I played with changing the resolution formula within one of the Control Panel choices with some luck before I changed to a new computer. It is extremly irritating I know. Thomp was the one that gave me the contrl/- suggestion and it worked but still not satisfied having to do it when I new if I could just find 10 yr old to fix the problem it would go away. No slam meant just a fact.

This thread is extra wide on my machine as is the following.

bandsaw set up?

I have the size on my screen set at 100%. There are a lot of threads that actually fit with room to spare and then those that are really wide.

Thanks for checking,

tvance, or anyone having that problem, can you let me know what resolution your monitor is using so I can try to replicate the issue from my end? On windows you can see this by right clicking on a blank part of your desktop and selecting "properties" and then the "settings" tab, it is listed in the slider kind of in the middle. On macs its in the apple menu, system preferences and monitors.

thanks...this sort of feedback makes this forum a better place for everyone.
