Default Private Messages

I typed a long private message to another member, only to be told after trying to send that I have reached my quota. No problem, I will delete some of the old message. So I decide to copy the text that I have already typed so that I can paste once I finished deleting old messages. I could not find any way to copy the text that I had already typed. It was a long text that took me a while to compose, and I could not copy or cut it to be able to paste later. I would lose everything that I had typed. Was I doing something wrong? Am I even making sense?

Just wondering.

When that happens to me, I usually copy and paste the message into a word document. On a PC, it's just control c to copy the material and control v to paste the material. On a mac it's Command C to copy and Command V to paste.

Or highlight the text and right click that text and copy.
But any long messages I type, I do it in a word document first.

You can minimize the link and open a new connection to the net. Go to the message board site and into your account and delete the messages you want. Close that window and reopen the old window and send the message, having deleted the excess when you opened the other window.

BobD, well look at that, it works. And I have been working on computers since the first commodore. I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks.

Todd, The option to right click and copy is not available.

Treewizard, I like the way you think. Outside of the box. Never thought of that.

If I had to right click and copy and paste, as much as I copy and paste working on articles, I'd never get anything done!!!

Any time I can keep my hands on the keyboard instead of moving to the mouse, I save myself 15 to 20 seconds (and I can type nearly 15 words in that time).

BobD:
Get a 3 button mouse for your Mac - that's what I have on mine - made by Logitech - LX3 Optical Mouse. The scroll wheel lets you scroll quickly up and down (and left and right!!) in a large document. I operate with two monitors, and the right-click brings up context sensitive menus that mean I don't have to move the cursor all the way across to the other monitor and pull down a menu option.

I've got the mighty mouse already. Honestly, though, I do more typing on a regular basis than I do mouse work. The mouse still won't type in the words I need, and I can type faster than I can try to dictate. Comes from the years of taking obituaries over the phone when I worked at a newspaper. I can type faster than I can write long hand or even faster than I can speak sometimes.

I know most of the major keystroke shortcuts (and in other software, I set up my own shortcuts). The only time I use the mouse is when I'm checking out something online and when i need to format an article in InCopy.
