Default Preview "Pains" - how to turn them off?

They are making me nuts, popping on and off whenever browsing through the posts.

Is there any way in my user settings to turn them off?
Pretty please?

Thanks

K.

This is a new one for me Kate. Wish I could help. Noticed you haven't had an answer. Sorry.

They are hard to get used to they are there to give you a preview to the thread to see it you are interested. for along time I thought my screenreader was nuts it was giving me double talk. I don't know how you turn them off though sorry.

Here's a kinda drastic solution - but if you log out they won't pop up.

I've only been part of the message board for a short time but I've never seen popups like this.

hello kate, i looked the code, and these popups seems scripted with javascript...that means, if you disable javascript in your browser, they should disappear...

Thank you Doris, I will have a look and see what I can break

I sure appreciate it, and I'll let you know how it goes.

My solution to this is simply to make sure my cursor is off to the right. If you don't mouse over them, they won't pop up.
Just my two cents.

Personally I LOVE being able to preview a thread before clicking on it and was happy when another message board that I frequent switched to the same software as WCI. Jim's solution works best for me in that I just keep my cursor scrolling down the page to the side, then only preview a prospective thread if I want to. It does take getting used to the workings of the system though.

Kate...

I don't know what browser you're using, but you should be able to go into your preferences and block any pop-up windows. I'm new to the site and I haven't seen any of the pains you're experiencing.
