I'm retired and would really like to pursue the hobby
of wood carving. (whittling)
Does anyone know of wood carving classes in the
Peoria, IL area (central IL)

Try looking on the left on your screen there is a place for carving clubs by zip codes.. this may be a good place to start

Try this link for other clubs in Illinois: Woodburning Tools by Colwood: Carving Clubs

Also, if you subscribe to or buy Wood Carving Illustrated, check out each issue for Carving shows within your driving distance. Once there, you will find suppliers, but be able to talk to other carvers and you may find a carving group close to you. AND, you may find a location that offers beginners carving classes.
