New Post Feature

How does the "new post" feature work? Do only new posts that the reader has not seen appear? I doubt that! New s seem to appear for only a very limited time, then go back into the other memory listing. It there that much activity on the forum?

Hi Tom,
It's an individual search for each member. But it doesn't purge each and every time you click on it. I'm not sure how often it purges, but it usually purges at least once a day.

It doesn't take note of whether or not you have viewed the threads it displays; it only shows threads with new posts since you've been on the board.

I think it relies on a "cookie" for each individual that knows the last time you logged in and then shows all new posts that have been made since the last time you logged out. My browser is set to log me in automatically every time I go to the WCI site. I don't automatically log out when I quit my browser, but the WCI forum site will automatically log me out after a half hour or hour of inactivity. Claudio could probably tell us the exact time. The "New s" button feature is one of the most useful items on the forum for me. After I have read through all the new posts, I can click the button again and it shows me the new stuff since the last time I clicked the button.
