As far as putting this query in the wrong place, one of the moderators can move it if need be. Hi Al, Great idea with having classes for disabled vets. There are a few ways to go for knives. You can get the United Cutlery Whittlin' Jack at Whittlin' Jack Wood Carving Knife - BUDK for a mere $1.98 a knife. They need some massaging to make them usable, but the price is right. You can also pick up fixed blade utility knives like Lynn Doughty's Ol' Reliable. For chisels and gouges, Harbor Freight has a nice set for woodcarving at about $10. They come surprisingly sharp and ready to use.

Al, Being a Vet myself I can only say that its a wonderful thing you're doing to help disabled Vets and also promote carving in your area. You can send me a PM with your mailing address and I'll be happy to give you some tools I don't use anymore. God Bless You, Dan |
