Thumbs up greetings again

Well I have been gone awhile and now am back! Seems I must relearn the message board all over again! ugh...but here I go anyway. I have been carving 'little people' of 2" tall or less thanks to having to sit and recovery from major surgery. Thanks to Jack Price's book on compact characters and his CD I am back to having fun! Anyway we all need to smile.
Am looking for train type stuff to carve - engineers, conductors etc...have a friend who'se family were Canadian train folk and would like to start my own 'little people' patterns. Can anybody help? Pictures would be great too.

Welcome back!
I don't have any new ideas but glad you're back with us. Hope your surgery went ok and your recovery is good. I can't think of a better way to recover than by carving--it's good therapy for whatever ails you!

Default Wednesday morning

Hey Donna,
I live in SW Mo also - Springfield !
Have been carving since 2002 or so ... have become juried member of club and had one piece go through juried show, and sell! That was cool. I love doing caricatures and realistic animals [and caricature animals]. This is a difficult year for me and yet I find solice in my carving. It relaxes me and I forget the battle I am in [cancer]. Since I work nights, I am hoping now that weather is warming up I will be able to carve outside and get some sunshine too!
I have sat under tutelage of Harold Enlow [my favorite friend] and Mike Shipley at seminar in Norwood, MO last Aug. but Harold also before that. I like his relaxed, easy style!
thanks for replying! I'll get the hang of this yet and will make it a point of checking every night at least.

Welcome back. We have a lot of carvers in this neck of the Ozarks and it is good to see more on the forum. I am just south of you over in ARkansas. My medical providers are in Springfield so am up there too often.

Welcome back! I agree....carving is good for the soul. It is a time to forget everything and just "do". I don't carve little people, but I would look at kids books for patterns.
