Hi Dano, this request might be better over in one of the other forums, maybe Beginner, anyway welcome to the WCI Board. You could try looking at : http://porchpatterns.tripod.com/giraffe.html This is a stylised Giraffe pattern provided by Don Burgdorf, there are a number of other free patterns by Don on this site. No instructions on carving it but it might help get you started. OG Quote:

Dano, If I remember right, one of David Sabol's Noah's Ark books have two differently posed giraffe's. I made one for one of my grandkids and it turned out great--and you can put as much detail into it as you want. Donna T

Hey Dano You might do well by going to "Little Mountain" carving supply. They have blanks and instructions. Check it out. Jake |

Try Christian J. Hummel company at 1-800-762-0235. They have 3 patterns listed for giraffe. You might also try childrens coloring books they are sometimes a good source for patterns. Hope this helps. "foxy"

Dan; I carved a 6' 2" giraffe of my own design, roughly patterned after those tall African carvings that you see in import stores. Mine is stylized and smoothly finished, very thin legs. I don't have a pattern, but if you'd like me to try to scan some photos (I have some professionally-done photos) I'll send them. Bruce baendorfn@hotmail.com |
