Default fox publishing sales

Last week I received a sale ad for some carving books...one book that looked interesting to me was a good buy, believe it was either 6.50 or 7.50 and normally about 14/15.00....problem is, there were only 4 books I think on sale and only one of the 4 I was interested in...I couldn't take advantage of the sale because of the shipping costs, defeats the sale price....my suggestion is, have numerous books on sale so we can at least justify building up our library without half the cost being shipping costs! imho thanks Dave (or....do something about the shipping costs...I looked at 4 books on ebay, and 2 day shipping was something like 2.38? that was for 4 books!)

Dave, Last month I bought The Carving Sea Captain book and a Harold Enlow book along with Refsals Scandanavian Patterns. For Father's Day wife ordered me (while I was looking, which is good) William Judt Inspirational carvings, Refsal's Art & Technique of Scandanavian Carving & Howrilla's Carving Golfers.

Those three were a few reduced at 33% on both Amazon & Overstock. But on Overstock.com I got free shipping. Amazon offered free shipping for orders over 25 dollars but included it in the tally so I blew them off. I have to pay the sales tax because both Fox Chapel and I are in PA.

On both sites I had to put the author or title in several times before I got succesful search results and some titles were not on both and not all books were offered at the same discount. It's all Fox Chapel Publishing so I don't feel I'm harming their business.

Well while we are bemoaning or just moaning and crabbing or what ever anyone wants to call it, about various carving books and their cost plus shipping costs etc., my question is , Why when my subscription comes due is the "freebie" for a two year subscription a free copy of a WCI essential guide that I already have?
Why can't it be a book I don't already have(which has been the case for some people in the past I'm told)..mummble mummble mummble, after all I have been a faithful subscribers since day one.
So a happy subscriber is a loyal subscriber..right?

Gord - I think I saw somewhere on this site a choice of freebies - maybe 4? Don't know if it was for a two year subscription or what... but you might be able get something else...

Yep...I saw that too , but my postal notice for renewal only mentions the Essentials of Painting which of course I got two years ago.
I'll go and check the web site out, maybe the offer is still good there.
Thanks for reminding me.

DANG IT! Just checked the web site, it does give a choice of a freebie for a 2 year subscription, but ....I already have all the "essential" publications they offer and as well I have the Myron Bowman book on santas...
We need an update of freebies for two year subscription.

We’re aware that a lot of our loyal subscribers already have the Painting and Finishing Guide and we’ve been working on a new premium for our readers. If you are ready to renew now and already have the premium offered in your renewal letter, please call our customer service team at 800-457-9112. The girls will be happy to find a premium that works for you. In the meantime, we welcome your feedback. Please share your ideas and suggestions for our next premium.

Hi Bob;
I finally today I got around to renewing my two year subscription and when I mentioned that I had all the "offers/premiums" that were offered for a two year subscription, I was offered an extra issue of WCI added on to my two year subscription. Which is fair enough, but I wonder if a offer of a reduced price on one of the Fox Chapel books (subscribers choice) wouldn't be a great incentive, just a thought/suggestion.
Anyway that wont be a factor for me for awhile since I'm now signed up again for two years.
