Question Carl Olaf Tryyp

Just discovered that my two indian friends dated 1929 Canada are by C O Tryyp. Can anyone advise on value and what medium was used when they were painted - they look a bit faded!

You mean Trygg I think. values I have seen run anywhere from 25/30 dollars up to about 150.00 depending on the carving. imo

I'm fairly sure the paint would be an oil based that was thinned with a solvent or white gas as Andy Anderson did many years ago. I wouldn't alter the finish in any way if I were you because that could/would make the carving worthless to a collector!

Best thing to do is keep any paintings and painted woodcarvings out of the direct sun. I carved a couple of Emu eggs a number of years ago, and put them in a gallery, the gallery owner put one of the eggs in the front window! Ouch! it faded one side of the egg.......direct sun isn't good for much of anything!
