BobD says: Basically, we've got to take the Terabytes of information from the current server and shift it over to the new server. While this is happening, you'll still be able to read messages, but you will not be able to post any new messages. This should eliminate many of the bugs (basically, we haven't been able to update the forum software because we don't have the capacity, which is causing the bugs). It should be a seamless switch...Everything should stay the same (passwords, usernames, etc.). If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a hollar! Best regards, Bob Duncan Technical Editor Bob, I've never seen a terabite, but I think I've heard one growling once or twice. I'm a little confused. At first I thought that the Terabytes was the name of your new rock-n'-roll band, then I thought maybe you had gotten dentures and they weren't working so well. My mama always said to chew your food thoroughly before swallowing, which I thought made a lot of sense, because after swallowing, the chewing is pretty much over, at least for that bite. Now, however, having reread this message (again), I think I gotcha 'bout figgered out. A terabyte must be an insect-proof container. Lemme see if I got this right. You're gonna take all our old posts, that might have bugs in 'em, and put 'em in one of these terabytes, to kep the bugs from getting into the new posts, but the truck broke down and the new posts won't be gettin' here for another couple days, but when we do get 'em, they won't have any darn bugs in 'em. Only question is, what's gonna keep the cows outa the garden 'til then? Maybe you young fellers are learnin' sumpthin down at that fancy college after all. I've strung miles of fence myself, and I want to thank you for doin' whatever you can to fight them pesky bugs. Seen it with my own eyes, nothin' can chew up a fencepost like a rash of bugs. I wonder if their mamas told 'em how... So is that right, how I got it all figgered? I mean, the basic upshot anyhow - I might be a little weak on the small details. Your loyal member, Parker

You've got the idea, Parker! But you wouldn't believe how much damage those new fangled computer bugs can do! Why, they can munch their way through all sorts of data, and data is a lot harder to replace than fence posts. Without that data, all sorts of secrets get out...and those secrets are a lot harder to recapture than cows, and you know how hard cows are to catch!!! Claudio did a great job of keeping the cows out of the garden, though, until he replaced the posts...We didn't lose ANY crops! One of the advantages of the new server (where we've got all of the new posts) is that we've got lots of redundancies...redundancies are kinda like posts cut from locust rather than poplar...they're good for a lot longer! So we should be set for a while! Bob |

You've almost got it, Parker!!! Terabytes is just a fancy new word for the old oil and pitch cerisote that we use to us to protect the fence psots before the EPA decided that it was toxic ... which I always thought was the entire point of cerisote. Hey, BobD, does terabyte come with an EPA seal of approval? Susan |

Terabytes are all natural..like using insects to prevent the spread other bugs! Bob |
