Just finished this woodcock carving. My own pattern. Thought I would like to redeem myself after posting the picture or my Bare. :-[ Hopefully this one is a little better.

Link to a picture of one of my first carvings. Worked hard on this decoy. Its been fun, lots of improvements to make yet. I'll keep trying, until they come to carry me away. Any one else got a photo of their early efforts??

Hugh, great carving of the woodcock (timber doodle). I used to hunt these little guys in the fall every year as they make the treck south they usually stay over a few days feeding on a special worm that they use that big beak to dig out of the ground. You sure have come a long way since your first carving it is nice to see. Again great job on the woodcock I will take a photo of my first carving and post it. I hope everyone does the same it will be great to see how far people have come. This should make for a great topic I will post it on the general carving board.
