thanks for that Hugh, sadly i have just checked the back issues available and they only go as far back as winter/spring 1998.
you dont happen to know if it was posted on this forum do you?
Did a quick search nothing came up (sounds just what i was looking for too)

Neil if also been advised to get this book. according to reviews its the encyclopaedia of bird carving. have you seen it?

Kev, You are getting some great advice here. If I could add anything it would be to carve more, worry about the best book less. Good advice from a carver who reads many books and too few carvings to show for it. Larry
