Hey thanks everyone! I have carved single hawk feathers before. However, I have a feeling that turkey tail feathers are a lot wider than that. I also think that painting the feather once it's finished will also be a challenge. That's why I'm going "reference hunting" as well. Steve, good luck with your round up!!

Thanks for the kind words, I entered it in the Texas Guild competition and it got another blue ribbon at this competition. I ordered some patterns for a ruffed grouse and will be carving that for the upland game category next year.

Great turkey carving,Jeff if you are not able to nail your turkey, I might have a turkey feather or two that I saved from my turkey hunt in Oregon. By the way it's great to have you back.

I don't bother with the hunting part, I just raise them and collect the feathers when they molt. I've got a great ribbon winning Tom and his hen to go along. They are both "wild"...bronze. If you didn't have any luck let me know and I'll mail you a few.
