Default Thank you, thank you AlArchie and Woody!!!

Thanks so much you guys, I finished my pine branch and it has turned out so good, I'm SO HAPPY!! I'm so glad I made it all myself, the artificial ones were so fake looking, this looks almost real!
Just click on the link below, it's in the Album called (of course!) Pine Branch.
Thank you again, and again and again, I couldn't have done it without the advice you gave me!! Callynne

P.S. No, the vice isn't the base, I'm working on that now! :

Callynne,
That looks terrific you are one talented lady. You really stewed about that branch and now look how well it turned out. Make sure you let us know when the base has been chosen and the carving complete would really like to see it.

Callynne, That looks amazing!!!

That chickadee looks great as well. Is that from the Roz Daisey book?

You'll have to let me know the advise these guys gave you because I've never made a branch that looks so real. Again, excellent work, you should be very proud.

Chris.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone, I appreciate them!! Hubby cut a base for me out of butternut and routed around it, it's looking very nice, I'll put up a picture when it's all finished.
Yes Chris, the chickadee is from Roz Daisey's book and what a great book it is! I'd highly recommend her books to anyone, the directions and pictures are excellent.
When I asked about making a branch Al mentioned about using wire and also about Taxidermy supplies. I got a catalog from Hide and Beak, talked to a nice man there about a Habitat book they had. He actually looked through the book and said no, it wasn't what I was looking for but told me about using manilla envelopes to make the needles.
The book Woody suggested actually showed how to do that, step by step and also how to do the branch. Without the suggestions and encouragement from them I never would have even tried it. Like Al said, it's very satisfying to have done it myself...especially since it turned out so nicely! Thanks again guys! Callynne
